Grains sharply lower in Chicago Monday

CHICAGO, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Grains closed sharply lower on the Chicago Board of Trade Monday as U.S. markets fell hard in New York with a failed House bailout vote.

Corn was off 30, soybeans were off 70, wheat was off 45 1/2 to off 48 and oats were off 13 1/4 to off 14.

Corn traded lower, pressured by anticipation of the House vote and a stronger dollar. Wheat fell with traders expecting weaker economies would put downward pressure on demand. Lower oil prices and financial worries turned soybeans prices sharply lower.

Corn: Dec 5.13, off 30; Mar 5.31, off 30; May 5.42 1/2, off 30; Jul 5.52 1/2, off 30.

Soybeans: Nov 10.94, off 70; Jan 11.10 1/2, off 70; Mar 11.24 1/4, off 70, May 11.37, off 70.

Wheat: Dec 6.68, off 48; Mar 6.89, off 48; May 7.03 1/2, off 47 1/2; Jul 7.16, off 45 1/2.

Oats: Dec 3.18, off 13 1/4; Mar 3.35 1/4, off 13 3/4; May 3.47, off 14; Jul 3.58 1/2, off 14.
