TRIESTE, Italy, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- An Italian shipbuilder has won a contract to build a new luxury liner for Britain's Cunard Line, the shipbuilder announced Wednesday.
Fincantieri officials said the 2,092-passenger ocean liner -- to be named Queen Elizabeth -- will be built at its Monfalcone yard in Gorizia at a cost of about $707 million, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.

The new Queen Elizabeth, the second largest vessel Cunard has built, is scheduled to be launched in the fall of 2010.
This November, Fincantieri, based in Trieste, will present Cunard with another huge cruise ship, the 90,000-ton Queen Victoria, which can carry 2,000 passengers.
