Poland seeks more foreign investment

WARSAW, Poland, May 29 (UPI) -- Poland's government is trying to create a friendly environment to lure more foreign investment, which totals about $15 billion a year.

Jerzy Kwiecinski, Polish deputy minister for regional development, said foreign direct investments reached that amount thanks to Poland's joining the European Union in 2004, Polish Radio reported Tuesday.

EU membership has accounted for about $12 billion of annual assistance funds aimed at boosting Poland's economic development.

Kwiecinski said the annual inflow of billions of dollars provides strong support to Poland's development.

Nevertheless, the government has been working hard to secure better conditions to attract more foreign investors to Poland, he said.
