General Motors' SUVs under investigation

DETROIT, April 23 (UPI) -- Possible problems with the fuel tank of two General Motors SUVs were reported under investigation Monday by a U.S. automobile safety agency.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the Buick Rendezvous and the Pontiac Aztek could develop a fuel tank leak from improper welding, the Detroit News reported.

NHTSA received 213 complaints concerning the vehicles covering the years 2001 to 2004.

As many as 279,780 Rendezvous and Aztek sport-utility vehicles may be affected, the agency said.
