ATLANTA, April 20 (UPI) -- AT&T Mobility LLC marketing chief Marc LeFar has resigned, announced the Atlanta-based cell-phone company that used to be called Cingular Wireless.
LeFar "wanted to do something else," an AT&T spokesman said, declining further comment.
LeFar also declined comment and referred calls to AT&T public relations, Advertising Age reported.
LeFar's departure, weeks before the launch of Apple Inc.'s iPhone, which AT&T has a multiyear exclusive to offer through its mobile unit, underscores a telecom-industry turmoil, Ad Age said.
No. 4 wireless provider T-Mobile Chief Marketing Officer Mike Butler resigned in February.
Verizon Wireless shuffled executives after John Stratton moved from the top marketing spot to head No. 1 Verizon Corp.'s marketing.
No. 3 Sprint Nextel Corp. hired Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco as the advertising agency for its $1.2 billion account March 31.
IPhone's "advertising plan is still being formulated" between AT&T and Apple, the AT&T spokesman told Ad Age.
