Jars of the food may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, which can cause the life-threatenting illness botulism, the FDA said.

The agency warned consumers not to use jars of the food, even if the food does not look or smell spoiled.

The baby food is sold in single jars and variety packs and is part of the company's "2nd Vegetables, Fruits and Blends" line intended for babies 6 months and older, the FDA said.

Jars affected by the FDA warning are marked 23923-20223 PFGJ14NP EXP 14 SEP 08 A; 23923-20295 13 SEP 08; and 23923-20223 PF6J14 NP EXP 14 SEP 08 A.

If consumers have any of the jars in their homes, they should destroy them, the FDA said.

The agency said no illnesses had been reported in connection with the problem.

Hain Celestial Group has recalled the baby food, the FDA said.
