Boeing gets more 777 freighter orders

CHICAGO, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Guggenheim Aviation Partners LLC, a U.S. investment firm, has ordered three Boeing Co. 777 air freighters with an option for another one.

At list prices, the order is valued at about $708 million, Boeing said Tuesday in a news release. Delivery of the 777 freighters will begin in 2009.

Investment funds managed by Guggenheim own a fleet of 31 Boeing aircraft. In addition to those airplanes, the funds placed orders for six 747-400ER freighters in June 2005 and four 747-8 freighters in September 2006.

Over the life of the 777 program, 47 customers worldwide have placed 887 orders for all versions of the 777. Since its launch in 2005, the 777 freighter program has won orders for 49 aircraft from seven customers.
