AUGUSTA, Ga., Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has ceased operating its Augusta, Ga., facility and will auction all of the plant's equipment in January 2007.
Pfizer spent around $85.7 million in capital improvements over the past five years at the Augusta facility.

The facility has complete active product ingredient production equipment, with a reactor capacity of 29,000 gallons. Much of the equipment is new and was never turned on or certified.
The new real estate owners, Coastal Xethanol, will make ethanol bio-fuels on the premises.
San Francisco auction firm Rabin Worldwide said Tuesday in a release that it is handling the auction.
