Further, inventories of unsold homes fell for the second straight month, a sign that the market is correcting, MarketWatch reported.
Sales fell 1.9 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 6.18 million last month, the lowest since January 2005, in a decrease that was slightly greater than economists' expectations.
