CHICAGO, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- The parent company of Chicago's United Airlines has extended the contract of the carrier's chief executive by four years.
Glenn Tilton's contract would have expired Sept. 1, 2007, but Friday the board said in a statement that it was being extended to Sept. 1, 2011.

Directors noted Tilton's successful shepherding of United through a $23 billion restructuring and return to profitability.
The board also approved a 4-year deal for Pete McDonald, United's executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Finally, United appointed Graham Atkinson, currently senior vice president worldwide sales and alliances, to the post of executive vice president and chief customer officer.
