Lockheed Martin pitches Indian partnership

NEW DELHI, June 20 (UPI) -- Lockheed Martin is talking with Indian industrial groups about outsourcing its F-16 jets as part of a marketing drive in South Asia.

The U.S. aerospace company is talking with Indian firms like Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. and the Tata group jointly making the jet fighter, the Press Trust of India reported Tuesday.

Lockheed also is talking such Indian companies about jointly making the C-130 cargo plane.

Forming partnerships with domestic manufacturers is seen as an effective form of marketing to non-U.S. buyers.
