Foster's sells Chinese brewery

MELBOURNE, June 16 (UPI) -- Foster's Group Ltd., Australia's biggest beer maker, has sold its Shanghai brewery to Japan's Suntory Ltd. for about $22 million.

Foster's, which entered China in 1993, said it planned to keep ownership and distribution rights for Foster's Lager and its other international beer brands, the Melbourne Herald Sun said Friday.

The company still retains breweries in India, Vietnam, Fiji and Samoa.
