VW building factory in India

NEW DELHI, June 9 (UPI) -- Volkswagen AG plans to build factory in India that will produce 100,000 vehicles per year.

The northern state of Punjab approved the German company's $326 million plans, which entail hiring about 5,000 workers, the BBC reported Friday.

The factory had been planned for the state of Andhra Pradesh, but a fraud case in the region involving VW personnel resulted in VW moving the facility to Punjab.
