IBM investing $6 billion in India

BANGALORE, India, June 6 (UPI) -- IBM will invest about $6 billion in India over the next three years, the Financial Times reported Tuesday.

Samuel Palmisano, chairman and chief executive officer of the big U.S. computer company, said the money would go into expanding the work force and creating a large technology center, software development and research and development.

Indian revenues for IBM rose 45 percent in 2004, 55 percent in 2005 and 61 percent in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period last year.
