Ebay buys Swedish rival for $48M

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 24 (UPI) -- EBay said Monday it bought Sweden's Tradera.com, the leading online auction-style marketplace in the Scandinavian country, for $48 million.

EBay does not expect the acquisition of the 7-year-old company to have a material impact on its financial guidance.

Consultant IDC says business-to-consumer e-commerce in Sweden reached $4.8 billion in 2005, and that number is expected to grow to $15.7 billion in 2009.
