Carlyle selling Casema, Dutch cable firm

LONDON, April 21 (UPI) -- The Carlyle Group, a large U.S. private equity group, wants to sell Casema, a Dutch cable operator valued at about $2.4 billion.

Carlyle has hired Goldman Sachs to auction Casema. Potential buyers are expected to be Warburg Pincus, French cable operator Altice and Liberty Media International, a cable company that once tried to buy Casema, the Financial Times reported Friday.

Casema supplies TV, broadband and telephone services to 1.4 million customers and is the Netherlands' No. 3 cable operator, with about 12,500 miles of cable in the ground.
