InBev raises stake in Quinsa for $1.2B

BRUSSELS, April 13 (UPI) -- Belgium's InBev, the world's biggest brewer by volume, is paying $1.2 billion to hike its ownership of South American brewer and Pepsi bottler Quinsa.

InBev's Brazilian unit will increase its stake from 56.7 percent to 91.2 percent in Quinsa by purchasing all of Beverage Associates Corp.'s shares in the company, MarketWatch reported Thursday.

InBev, which was formed of a merger of Interbrew and AmBev two years ago, owns such brands as Stella Artois, Brahma, Beck's and Leffe.
