CINCINNATI, March 10 (UPI) -- Ohio-based Federated Department Stores Inc. Friday revealed numerous store closings, including two in Missouri, and a conversion.

Stores being closed are in six states: St. Louis Galleria, with 114 employees; West County of St. Louis, with 117 workers; Christiana Mall of Newark, Del., with 131 staff members; Fairlane Town Center of Dearborn, Mich., which has 131 employees; Northshore Mall, Peabody, Mass., which has 122 workers; the Robinsons-May store in Scottsdale Fashion Square in Scottsdale, Ariz., with 277 workers; and the Strawbridge's store in downtown Philadelphia, which has 310 people working in it. Also, Federated will convert the current Lord & Taylor store in downtown Philadelphia to a Macy's around June 1 after a clearance sale that begins April 2.

Federated expects to sell its remaining 49-store Lord & Taylor division, which it acquired in August 2005 as part of its merger with the May Department Stores Co., by the end of this year.

This brings to 79 the total number of stores Federated intends to close as part of its buying May Co., Federated said in a statement.
