Hypercom cuts big deal with Kazakh bank

PHOENIX, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Kazkommertsbank, the largest private full-service bank in Kazakhstan, is buying 2,000 countertop card payment terminals from Arizona-based Hypercom Corp.

The purchase marks the launch of a new program the bank is introducing to help Kazakhstan's merchants implement customer loyalty programs, Hypercom said Wednesday.

Kazkommertsbank bought Hypercom's 32-bit Optimum T2100 hand-over countertop terminal since it complies with EMV smart card standards, its ability to perform smart card and loyalty card functions quickly and simultaneously at the point-of-sale, and Hypercom's ability to provide an end-to-end solution including a customized transaction communications network with associated management software.

The value of the deal was not disclosed.
