Renault-Nissan sales up 5.9 percent

TOKYO, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Renault and Nissan have announced that the two companies sold a combined 6,129,254 units in 2005, up 5.9 percent over 2004.

The Renault-Nissan Alliance said that its global market share came to 9.8 percent, ranking among the world's top four global automakers in terms of unit sales, after General Motors, Ford Motors and Toyota Motor Corp.

The Renault Group sold 2,248,756 vehicles under the Renault brand, down 2.6 percent, 119,027 vehicles under the Renault Samsung Motors nameplate and 164,406 Dacia-branded vehicles.

The Nissan Group sold 3,448,637 vehicles under the Nissan brand, up 9.2 percent, while sales of Infiniti-branded cars increased to 149,111 units.
