Imax extends its reach into South America

TORONTO, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Imax Corp. will install three theaters in South America as part of its partnership with Brazil's Racimec International Group.

Two Imax theaters will be built in Venezuela and another in Chile, Imax said Monday.

The new IMAX theater in Chile is expected to open in the second quarter of 2007 and 2008; the Venezuelan units are expected to open in the third quarter of 2007.

In the past 12 months, Imax has entered six markets in South and Central America.
