SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 12 (UPI) -- California's Yahoo! Inc. and Microsoft Corp. said Wednesday their instant messaging consumers will be able to connect with each other.
The so-called interoperability agreement will let global users of both Yahoo! Messenger and MSN Messenger interact.

The total number of consumers affected is about 25 million, about 44 percent of the global instant-messaging market, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Industry leader America Online owns about 56 percent of the worldwide market, said research firm Radicati Group Inc.
