BOMBAY, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- New Delhi is ordering Indian energy companies to boost imports of liquid petroleum gas to counter a shortage of the commodity.
A recent shutdown by Reliance Industries at Jamnagar, Gujarat, and a spurt in global gas prices have been reasons for a sudden scarcity, especially during current festive season, the Economic Times reported Monday.

However, oil and gas companies have responded that fresh supplies of LPG were not easily available as there was a crunch in the global market following the shutdown of U.S. gas terminals.
