CARDIFF, Wales, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- At least 115 people in Wales, mostly children, have been diagnosed with E. coli, in an outbreak apparently caused by tainted meat supplied to schools.
E. coli, a common bacterium spread by food, can cause an infection that leads to kidney breakdown and death if untreated.

The Independent reports that Tudor and Sons, a meat distributor based in Bridgend, shut down voluntarily a week ago. The company supplied meat to schools and stores in South Wales
At least 32 schools have been affected by the E. coli outbreak and four children have become ill enough to require intensive treatment.
