South Korean joblessness falls

SEOUL, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- South Korea's jobless rate fell to 3.6 percent in August from 3.7 percent a month earlier, the Korea Times reported Thursday.

The year-on-year growth in the number of the employed maintained more than 400,000 for the fourth consecutive month.

"The overall employment picture is improving. However, a growing number of people are looking for regular and stable jobs these days but companies are reluctant to hire regular workers amid the uncertain business outlook," said a government spokesman.
