Liability suit against Taser dismissed

NEW YORK, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- An Arizona court has dismissed a liability lawsuit against Taser International Inc., the maker of the Taser stun gun, the company said Friday.

The suit, which was dismissed with prejudice meaning it cannot be refilled, claimed wrongful death, negligent infliction of emotional distress and product liability.

"Our ongoing strategy is to never settle these baseless claims, and we will continue to aggressively defend this type of frivolous litigation," said Patrick W. Smith, chief executive of Taser.
