Young people turn to food for comfort

LONDON, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- A study by a leading British healthcare group shows one third of 15- to 24-year-olds in the Commonwealth turn to food when stressed out or depressed.

The research by the Priory Group of 1,000 young Britons shows chocolate and fast food were the main choice of food, the Daily Mail reports.

The report said that people use food to avoid problems in their lives, which could lead to additional problems like anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and obesity.

Respondents in the study also said that they feel worse about themselves if they think they are overweight.
