WASHINGTON, July 27 (UPI) -- U.S. sales of new one-family houses last month rose 4 percent over May's level to 1.374 million, slightly above the 1.3 million economists had expected.
June's figures are 14 percent above the year-earlier numbers. The revised May 2005 figure was 1.321 million, the Census Bureau said Wednesday.

The median sales price for June was $214,800, and the average sales price was $267,400.
The seasonally adjusted estimate of new houses for sale at the end of June was 454,000, a four-month supply at the current sales rate.
