Food magazine distributed by newspapers

FRANKLIN, Tenn., July 23 (UPI) -- Publishing Group of America, the Franklin, Tenn.,-based magazine publisher, will begin a new monthly food magazine in 2006 distributed via newspapers.

The new magazine, called Relish, is expected to debut in February with a circulation of 6 million, making it the largest ad-carrying food magazine by a factor of four to one. Relish will celebrate America's love of food with features on cooking, dining and entertaining -- from formal dinner parties to tailgates to rural roadside restaurants -- as well as tips on cooking and kitchen products.

Relish carries significance for a magazine business threatened by rising mail costs and will mark the first time that an independent, mass-circulation monthly will be distributed by newspapers, according to Publishing Group of America.

The magazine will offer advertisers a mass audience that is largely unduplicated by food, women's service or American profile magazines.
