KIEV, Ukraine, June 17 (UPI) -- The Ukrainian government says it will sell state-owned businesses and boost the transparency of the nation's markets.
Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Rybachuk said Kiev planned to privatize "everything but a few strategic businesses," the BBC reported Friday.

Among assets to be sold are the Krivorizhstal steel mill, which the former administration sold for $800 million to a group whose members included the son-in-law of former President Leoind Kuchma.
The government, which says the Krivorizhstal deal was illegal, plans to offer the facility for sale again by open auction with a transparency that meets international standards. Ukrainian officials have said such deals were done at below-market prices.
