OTTAWA, June 10 (UPI) -- Employment in Canada rose modestly last month to leave the nation's jobless rate at 6.8 percent.
An estimated 35,000 people found work in May, the second consecutive month of employment increases, for a year-to-date rise in employment of 90,000, Statistics Canada said Friday.

Both full- and part-time employment rose in May.
Sectors that showed strength last month were motor vehicle and parts retailing, food and beverage wholesaling and the trucking industry.
Manufacturing, educational services and construction were the weakest sectors.
