U.S. carriers to share reservations system

NEW YORK, April 27 (UPI) -- Seven big U.S. airlines will share a common reservation system to save millions in global distribution system fees.

G2 SwitchWorks Corp., formed last year in Chicago, created the airline reservation system and has already received commitment money from five of the seven carriers, CNN reported Wednesday.

G2 serves as a middleman between airlines and ticket sellers via its TRUEconnect network, which holds the promise of more than an 80 percent cut in global distribution system fees for participating carriers.
