Bureau: China economy to continue growth

BEIJING, March 20 (UPI) -- China's National Bureau of Statistics has said the country's economy will continue to grow rapidly during the next five to ten years.

Bureau spokesman Zheng Jingping said the economy would increase at a rate of eight to nine percent during the time period, reported official government news agency Xinhua.

He said factors supporting the rapid economic growth are the high deposit rate, the large amount of direct foreign investment, productivity advances, and political and social stability.

Zheng said the high deposit rate will end within the next 15 or 20 years, but the government is taking steps to keep the economy balanced.
