U.S. workers must be better trained

WASHINGTON, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Workers should be better prepared to take on jobs in growing sectors, a congressional committee said Wednesday.

Rep. Jim Saxton, R-N.J., said more that 80 percent of jobs created last year were high-paying positions such as management and other professional posts.

As such, government policy should gear towards educating workers to be able to fill those jobs, Saxton said.

"The real policy focus should be on better preparing the work force for jobs that increasingly demand higher levels of training, education and experience," the congressman said.
