S. Korean wireless exports to beat chips

SEOUL, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- South Korean officials have said wireless telecom equipment will replace semiconductors as the nation's No. 1 export item this year, the Korea Times reported.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy said the wireless equipment is expected to overtake chips as Korea's chief source of export revenue sometime this month. It would be the first time in 13 years that a product has overtaken semiconductors.
