Tyco to sell telecom unit to India's VSN

PRINCETON, N.J., Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Manufacturing group Tyco of Princeton, N.J., said Monday it will sell its Tyco Global Network to an Indian phone company for $130 million.

The deal with Videsh Sanchar Nigam, which is part of Indian industrial conglomerate Tata Group, is subject to government approval from both U.S. and Indian authorities, Tyco said.

Tyco Global Network provides undersea fiber optics telecommunications with networks spanning over 37,000 miles across three continents. The deal will allow Tyco to focus more on its core businesses.
