Black workers sue Dominick's grocery chain

OAK BROOK, Ill., Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Six African-American workers are suing Illinois-based Dominick's grocery store chain, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The suit was filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago against the grocery store chain, the managers of the South Loop store where the employees worked, and the union that represents them.

The workers alleged they had been scheduled to work fewer hours than less-senior white employees.

An attorney for the black workers said that their union, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 881, ignored their complaints.

Representatives from Dominick's and the union declined comment.
