SEC names new deputy chief of litigation

WASHINGTON, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Wednesday promoted Mark A. Adler to deputy chief litigation counsel in the enforcement division.

Adler had been assistant chief litigation counsel since 1997. Before joining the SEC, Adler spent nine years at the Justice Department.

Adler fills the position left open when Peter H. Bresnan became associate director of the SEC's enforcement division. He will help supervise the SEC's nationwide litigation program.

Adler received his undergraduate degree from Tufts University in 1978 and a law degree from Harvard University in 1981.
