Simmons to buy crib mattress business

ATLANTA, July 22 (UPI) -- Simmons Co. of Atlanta, Ga., Thursday agreed to acquire the crib mattress and related soft goods business of Simmons Juvenile Products Co. of York, Pa.

Financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close by the end of Simmons' third quarter, were not disclosed.

Simmons Juvenile Products Co. is a U.S. licensee of Simmons.

The transaction includes the company's operations in York, Pa., Oshkosh, Wis., and Ontario, Calif.

Simmons Co. is one of the world's largest mattress manufacturers, manufacturing and marketing a broad range of products. The company operates 18 plants throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
