TOKYO, July 21 (UPI) -- Mitsubishi Motors said Thursday it will slash 1,200 jobs at its factory in Illinois.
That will reduce the number of employees at the plant by nearly 40 percent, and the company will cut production from 180,000 vehicles per year to 140,000.

The scandal-ridden company saw sales at its U.S. plant fall by 48 percent in June from a year ago, Japanese daily Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported.
