The CFTC said it is seeking comment on petitions by the Chicago Board of Trade, the Kansas City Board of Trade and the Minneapolis Grain Exchange.

The New York Board of Trade did not submit a formal petition but sent a letter in support of the petition, the CFTC said.

Federal limits restrict the size of positions that may be held by speculators in the numerous futures and option markets including, Chicago Board of Trade corn, oats, soybeans, wheat, soybean oil, and soybean meal; Kansas City Board of Trade hard winter wheat; Minneapolis Grain Exchange hard red spring wheat and white wheat; and New York Board of Trade cotton No. 2.

Federal limits are set and enforced by the CFTC.
