SEOUL, June 13 (UPI) -- The World Economic Forum opened a two-day meeting Sunday for Asian leaders in Seoul for the first time in its history.
The Korea Times reported the Asia Strategic Insight Roundtable is a gathering of about 150 foremost leaders, allowing them to share strategies for sustainable growth in Asia.
Some issues to be addressed include: how IT and finance help Asia become the world's business hub; northeast Asia as the world's new growth engine; peace on the Korean Peninsula: how business initiatives foster reconciliation; Asia's new regional identity; and trade in the post-Cancun world.
Key participants include: Ichiro Fujisaki, deputy minister for Japanese foreign affairs; Morris Strong, formal U.S. special envoy to North Korea; Mervyn Davies, chief executive of the Standard Chartered Bank U.K.; and Martin Sorrell, chief executive of the WPP Group, one of the world's largest communications groups.
