Snow: 180,000 new jobs a month

WASHINGTON, April 20 (UPI) -- U.S. Treasury Secretary John Snow Tuesday predicted robust job growth between now and November, including the addition of 180,000 new jobs per month.

Snow told a Senate Appropriations Subcommittee "well-supported and well-reasoned estimates" from some economists show job growth will happen over the next six months.

Predictions from Bush administration officials about job growth have been decidedly incorrect during the last three years as the U.S. economy has had a net reduction of around three million jobs since the President took office, although increases in recent months have emboldened the White House's economic rhetoric.

Snow also added he remained unconcerned about inflation at this time due to unused manufacturing capacity and the fact that real wages have only begun to level off.
