Chicago hotel sued over peeping tom

CHICAGO, March 1 (UPI) -- A Michigan State trooper is suing Chicago's Palmer House Hilton because she saw eyes watching her while she was naked on a spa tanning bed.

"I saw someone looking at me," Sgt. Gail Kurowski told the Chicago Sun-Times. She said she covered up with a towel but the peeping tom -- allegedly a hotel employee -- never stopped looking at her through blinds in the health club.

The incident occurred in September 2000 when Kurowski, her husband and two daughters were on a weekend trip in Chicago. The negligence suit seeks at least $30,000.

When it opened in 1871, the Palmer House was the grandest of grand hotels. It was one of the first with electric lights and telephones in every guest room. Hilton bought the luxury hotel in 1945 for $20 million.

Hilton had no comment on the lawsuit.
