TROY, Mich., Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Kmart stores have risen from the ashes of bankruptcy to a new era, one that Kmart Holding Corp. executives have promised to fill with improvements.
Visitors to Kmart can expect to find the stores cleaner, more brightly lit, and well stocked with sale merchandise; the Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday.

Profits rose $250 million in November and December, an improvement the Troy, Mich. based retailer attributed to increased efficiency and a higher percentage of goods sold at full price.
However, during that same time period, existing-store sales dropped 13.5 percent, during the two busiest months of the year.
