Report says job cuts again top million

CHICAGO, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- With U.S. job cuts already topping 1 million for the third consecutive year, planned job reductions for November will be announced Wednesday.

The fourth quarter began with October planned cuts of 171,874, largest month in a year and the fourth month of 100,000 or more, according to a report from Challenger, Gray & Challenger.

As of October, job cuts totaled 1,040,388.

Last November, job cuts reached 157,508, the seventh and last month of 2002 with 100,000 cuts or more.
