TOKYO, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Nissan announced a worldwide recall Thursday of more than 2.5 million cars, the BBC reported.
The recall, the largest in company history and costing an estimated $140 million, affects the Primera, X-Trail, Almera and Almera Tino models built since 1998.

Defective sensors in the vehicle's engine management system will be replaced free of charge, the company said.
No accidents or injuries have been attributed to the defect, said Nissan, Japan's third biggest car maker and 44 percent-owned by France's Renault.
