2 firms recall imported dried plums

WASHINGTON, March 26 (UPI) -- Two New York companies Wednesday recalled dried plums imported from China because they contain sulfites not listed on the label, posing the risk of allergic reaction in some people.

The dried plums were recalled by Sincere Trading Co. and Kien Import Corp. Both companies sold the plums in uncoded five-ounce plastic bags.

Sincere distributed the recalled plums to retail stores in Connecticut, Georgia, Montana, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Illinois while Kien sold them to stores in Massachusetts.

The sulfites were discovered by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets through routine sampling.

In other action:

Mon Chong Loong Trading Corp. of Maspeth, N.Y., recalled Nicer Succade Dried Potatoes because of undeclared sulfites. The potatoes were distributed in the New York metropolitan area. The recalled potatoes have labeling in Chinese and English and carry the IPC No. 6 921585 433493.

Consumers are advised to return the recalled potatoes to place of purchase for a full refund or call 718-417-1668 for more information.

A Chauo of Buffalo, N.Y., recalled Siamese Coins Sour Bamboo Shoot Tip because of undeclared sulfites. The 24-ounce glass containers were imported from Thailand and have the UPC 6 45758 20400 5. They were was sold in the Buffalo area.

Consumers are advised to return the bamboo shoot tips to the store where purchased.
