Jobless claims fall to 21-month low

WASHINGTON, Dec. 5 (UPI) -- The Labor Department on Thursday reported that new claims for state unemployment benefits during the week ended Nov. 30 fell to their lowest level in 21 months. First-time claims dropped by 13,000 to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 355,000. Economists expected first-time claims to rise by 6,000 for the week.
