GM to install 'smart' air bags

DETROIT, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- General Motors Corp. said it is installing advanced air bags that automatically disable themselves to protect children in some 2003 models. GM safety chief Robert Lange told reporters the world's largest automaker would beat a federal requirement for so-called "smart" air bags by a year.
